Mayoress Councillor Moira Smith welcomed local people and civic guests from neighbouring local authorities for tea and cake at South Shields Registrars’ Office.

Musical entertainment was provided by local talent Chris Perry while guests relaxed in the garden party setting.

In line with Ladies Day at Ascot, ladies arrived at the event wearing a hat, as requested by the Mayoress.

“It was a lovely day,” said the Mayoress. “I was delighted to see so many ladies wearing their hats and it was a real pleasure to meet so many people from across the Borough.”
